Guidance for the days after a loss

We’re here to help guide you through what comes next. You can explore our articles and resources for clear, supportive advice on what to do when someone dies.

Whether it’s expected or not, the passing of a loved one is always a challenging experience. It can be hard to know what to do first, but we’re here to make it simple.

You may want to call a family member, friend or regular clergy to let them know what has happened. After this, contact the deceased’s doctor. If the deceased wished for their organs to be donated, then a hospital should be advised as soon as possible.

Once you have spoken to the doctor, you will need to contact a funeral home and arrange the transfer of the deceased into their care. You can call us on  (03) 8587 5775 , we are available 24/7.
