At Le Pine Funerals we help bring your family together to arrange a funeral service that truly celebrates and honours the life and values of your loved one.
Le Pine Funerals has more than 130 years of experience in tailoring funeral services to the needs and values of families in Victoria, with the first Le Pine funeral home having served the local community since 1891.
With 21 Le Pine funeral homes across Melbourne, we provide funeral services to all surrounding areas in Victoria.
In the 1870s, Joseph Le Pine fled his homeland of France and came to Melbourne with his family.
Joseph worked as a cabinet maker – in the early days of funeral services it was common for coffins to be made by a carpenter, a cabinet maker or similar artisan. It was also common for the manufacturer of coffins to assist families in making funeral arrangements.
By 1891, Joseph was established as an undertaker in the growing colonial city of Melbourne. Today, Le Pine is one of city’s largest and most respected funeral companies.
Families choose Le Pine for our people. Our funeral directors are a caring team of individuals who are professional, compassionate, and empathetic. Meeting a grieving family’s needs is at the heart of everything we do.
In 2020, our team were able to be a part of the funeral for Pop Almond, a lifelong member of the Mini Moke Owners Association. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the team were able to have several Mokes at the funeral to honour Pop. Returning Pop’s cremated remains meant a drive from Le Pine in Glen Waverley to the family home in Rosebud.
One of our team, who owns a Mini Moke, felt it only right that Pop would take his ‘last ride home’ in a Moke, so that was how his remains were delivered.
The family didn’t find out until later that Le Pine had organised to bring Pop home in a Moke and they were very touched by the gesture. It is little moments like this where our team do something special, even if the family will never see it, which make our team so pivotal to our success.
When Le Pine Funerals first began caring for families, funerals were all very similar – because that was how people were expected to say their goodbyes.
Today, each funeral service can be as unique as the person it is for. We can walk you through arranging a traditional funeral or create a service that is completely custom designed and tailored to your specific personal wishes and requests.
We have top-class facilities all under one roof. Unlike many of our competitors, Le Pine can offer beautiful chapels, refreshment spaces, and viewing facilities.
Community involvement is at the very heart of our business. Our funeral directors are well-established and connected in the local communities they serve.
They believe in giving back to our community and work hard to foster relationships with local nursing homes, charities, churches, and sporting and social clubs.
Le Pine has a long association with Rotary with many of our location managers being committed and active members.
Le Pine/Mulqueen Funerals location manager David Franzo has a strong connection with the Les Twentyman Foundation and is a driving force behind our support of their annual Christmas charity drive.
Funeral arranger Sean Campbell is a coach with Mazenod Football Club, and Le Pine has been able to build on this by offering sponsorship of the club.
Over many years Le Pine has partnered with many and varied local community groups. These connections often evolve through the personal experience of one of our people.
Le Pine Funerals Eltham had the honour to care for the family of Pat Cronin, a young man who was killed by a coward punch. Pat’s service had a huge impact on the whole team at Le Pine Eltham and the team are now proudly involved in many of the activities run by the Pat Cronin Foundation.
Le Pine also has 20-year relationship with Anglicare. Le Pine proudly continues to be a major partner of Anglicare’s Winter Warmers campaign – a yearly drive to gather warm clothing and blankets for people in need.
Le Pine has also run a unique outreach called the ANZAC horse program for many years. This involves taking Percheron horses to visit residents of nursing homes across Melbourne to enhance the lives of people in our community who live in residential aged care.
